Helen Gurley Brown – Icon

I am sometimes stumped when asked, ‘which contemporary woman inspires you’? Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta Jones are all strong, determined, inspiring women that I admire….but Helen Gurley Brown has shaped my world more than I realized.

Her passing this week made me realize how strong that influence was and how her words have actually shaped many of my attitudes and beliefs! She was an original, she encouraged young women to be more, do more and to stand up for themselves. She inspired my work ethic….to always give a little bit more, do a little extra, try that much harder to achieve what you want. She inspired my belief that women can and should do whatever they want to do….and that women need to support other women. Never a ‘mouseberger’….always classy and vibrant, she paved the way for modern, sexy, strong women. Helen Gurley Brown will be missed.
